Edith Ramirez is the Assistant City Manager for Development Services in Morgan Hill, California, a vibrant community of approximately 47,000 in the Bay Area. As a seasoned public servant, Edith is dedicated to strengthening communities through tactical planning that drives economic vibrancy, intentional placemaking, and long-term sustainability. Edith oversees Planning, Building, Code Enforcement, Economic Development, Housing, and Homelessness. A current area of focus is ELEVATE Morgan Hill—an economic mobility initiative designed to empower underserved residents, in particular the Spanish-speaking community, create pathways for economic growth, connect people to housing resources, and foster a deep sense of belonging. Born in Mexico City, Edith immigrated to the Bay Area at the age of 14. She earned a Master of Public Administration from San Jose State University and a Senior Executives in State and Local Government Certificate from the Harvard Kennedy School. Deeply committed to fostering thriving communities, she balances her professional dedication to with the joys of family life as a mother of two children, a four-legged hiking companion, daughter to a 90-year-old pioneer of a woman, and sister to nine siblings. Beyond her municipal role, she serves as Board Emeritus for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley and as Secretary for the Visit Morgan Hill tourism board. Edith’s dedication to building community has been recognized with awards such as Woman of the Year for California Assembly District 28 by Assemblymember Gail Pellerin, the Silicon Valley Business Journal Latinx Award, and the Boy Scouts of America Character Award, which she shares with her colleagues in public service who work arduously to support our communities.
